A catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Accra, Rev. Fr. Mark Mandela Anyigba has urged Christians to emulate the humble nature of Christ.

According to the assisting priest of the St. Dominic Catholic Church, Taifa, in humility lies greatness and it is expedient that Christians exhibit this character in their daily lives.

He noted that Christmas is the mystery of the incarnation of the Savior of the world and elaborated its significance to humanity.

He said “God came into the world in form of a man in other for us to be saved. He stood low for the sake of humanity and humility therefore as Christians we should endeavor to practice humility”.

He made the call today in his Christmas day homily at the St. Dominic Catholic Church Taifa.

He also stated that in this season of Christmas, Christians must remember they are the light of Christ dispelling darkness wherever they go.

He explained that the significance of the birth of Christ is that the light has come into the darkness which symbolises the mission of Christ on earth.

“we are the light therefore we should dispel the gloom of darkness in our lives as Christians. It is our responsibility as Christians to make this light bright and shine more than it has been. The world is in its bad state because we have refused to perform our duties as children of the light” he noted.

He encouraged Christians to make Christmas a season of gift. He reminded the Christian community of God giving us his son as a gift to the world and asked that today’s Christian replicate the gesture.

“We ought to make ourselves gift to others.  Let us try to reach out to people who are unable to celebrate today like we are doing especially to the aged and the sick,” he said.

Rev. Fr. Mark Mandela Anyigba is the new Parochial Vicar of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Taifa North. He was ordained a priest on 25th August, 2018(his birthday) by Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Accra.
